Millar left Wellington to-night for Duiiedin. u e will address his constituents towards the end of the week, dialling with labor mutter.,, ill. Millar is expected to, return to Wellington in about a fortnight. The Hon. It. MeXnb leaves Wellington to-morrow for Ohingaiti, oil land settlement business.

The Premier arrived at I'aW 'his evening and was welcomed In- the Mayor and lt'iulimf citizens. ||',. proceeded to the Technical School, which was formerly opened. Tn the course of his remarks he referred to the growth of technical education and the necessity of Continuing scientific instruction in t-h'e dairying and agricultural pursuits. lio was entertained at dinner by the Mayor, and during the evening received several deputations on local matters.
lie addressed a large gathering in the •veiling. Ilis speech was characterised 'throughout liy optimism and was received enthusiastically. Sir Joseph repeat, ed that lie opposed the imprisonment of strikers, but thought lines should be effective. Referring to reductions in the itarjir duties, he said, he had'seen invoices which had made the reduction in respect to one family (is per wjeek. lie was opposed to the nationalisation of land, which he considered was altogether impracticable. He was also opposed to single tax. Referring to the drop in wool and speaking with'a knowled.,. of statistics ami the requirements of the people, be said he believed the prices would soon recover. -He complained of croakers and said they should not preach "blue funk." The speech generally was along the lines of Jits recent utterances. A vole of thanks and confidence was declared unanimously.
