ACCIDENT TO A STEAMER.
A BROKEN SHAFT. Received April 13, 10.35 p.lll. Sydney, April 13. The steamer Perth reports that it saw rocket signals of distress off the Tasnianian coast at midnight 011 Friday- It bore down and found the steamer ICaroi'i with a broken thrust shaft. The l'erth -stood by till Saturday night and transhipped tile mails. The Karon's engineers cll'ected repairs. The vessel is proceeding to Sydney under easy steaiu.
