J'he championship amateur swimming cirnival held at the Thonidon baths On Saturday afternoon was generally sue-M'-sful, considering that the weather was cold and threatening, with a strong changeable wind. Most of the events were well contested, and Nelson ani j Canterbury competitors fairly maintained their reputations. The placed men in the 50yds interclub race were (!. Brvant- (Christchurch) 1, A. Allan I (Nelso'n) 2, J. Emerson (Nelson) 3; : time, Msec. P. Schwartz (Christ- | church) won the interclub neatest header competition. The placed men in the sixth heat—Emerson, Allan, and Kelly—are Nelson representatives. The. New Zealand water polo champioiwhip was won by Wellington by four goals to nil as against the Nelson team, anil by two goals to one against Christchurch. Auckland, Last Night. A number of Auckland swimmers left this afternoon for Napier to take part in the swimming championships meeting.
