THE ZAKKA KUELS EXUAGEI). POSITIONS CARRIED. SLIGHT BRITISH LOSSES. Calcutta, February 2uBriitsh columns under Brigadiers Anderson and Barrett attacked the Zakka Khclson Friday. The enemy was posted behind strong sangars on the high hills around Halwa, •even miles from Chind.
The positions were carried and the towers below destroyed. Major Forbes Senipill, of the Seaforth Highlanders, was killed.
General Willcox describes Senipill as having been one of the liest officers of the service. He wis killed while gallantly leading one of his .Majesty's linc-t battalions to the attack. Two Indian non-commissioned ollicers and eighteen Sepoys were wounded. These are doing well.
General Willcox attributes the siuallnc*s of the loss in this mountain warfare in pirt to the peace training of the troopsBrigadier Barrett by a frontal attack seized the hills while the Seaforths entered the Bazar A r alley. Brigadier Anderson simultaneously marched up another valley and debouched over the Kotal, delivering a flank attack.
The enemy being reinforced, clung near the flanks of the retiring Britishen, but made no impression. 'AFGHANS FORBIDDEN* TO HELP TRIBESMEN. Received 24th, 10.22 pjn. Kabul, February 24. The Ameer of Afghanistan has forbidden Afghan tribesmen to assist the enemies of Britain, which, he says, is in friendly alliance with Afghanistan.
