Mr. Fred. Maddison, M.P. for Burnley, urges Mr. D. J. Shackleton, Labor M.P., to dissolve the alliance of trade unionists with socialist organisations. It is intolerable, he says, that trade unionists should be compelled to subscribe to promote Socialism. ,
THE AUSTRALIAN LEAGUE. Sydney, January 28. The Political Labor League at its annual conference deferred till next conference final consideration of the question whether the Federal Parliament should have full power in labor matters or the States should remain unaltered. A proposal in favor of out-and-out socialism was negatived. The conference affirmed the desirability of a working week limited to 48 hour's.
