INGLEWOOD CALEDONIAN SPORTS.

The second annual gathering of the Inglewood Caledonian Society eventuated yesterday under auspicious conditions, and the attendance was very good, including a large number of visitors, especially from Tariki, Midhirst, Stratford, and Elthajn. The competition was very good, the fields, especially in the cycling races, being very large. The Highland events, in which there were a large number oi visitjpg competitors of note, attracted considerable attention throughout the whole of the afternoon. The chopping and sawing events likewise were sources of muca interest, and the competition in large fields was exciting. While the officials one and all worked cummendably hard, they allowed -much of the enjoyment to the general public to be marred by the unpardonable intrusion of a large section within the competitors' ring. The Taranaki Pipe Band was in attendance, and the skirl of the pipes was rarely non-evident. Appended are the results: Maiden Handicap, 150 yds.—M. Saywell 1, P. O'Connor 2, J. C. Kerr 3.
