A DISTRESSING! CASE. Per Press Association. Dunedin, Thursday. Early this morning Catherine M. Mead, a girl of fifteen yeans, shot herBelf through the breast at her parents' residence at St, Kilda. It appears that deceased's mother rebuked her at !>.30 last evening for being out late. This morning the mother found her at 5.45 sitting half-dressed on her bed. A little while nfter the mother heard the shot, and, rushing in, found her daughter collapsed on the floor with a loaded sixchamber revolver beside her. One chamber had been discharged. She was then quite dead.
Later. Deceased's father is an artilleryman. He has been working at the Heads lately. He states that the women had been suffering from burglar scare, and had been in the habit of having his revolver close at hand. He thinks that his daughter was tinkering with the weapon when it exploded.
