TARANAKI AGRICULTURAL SOCIETY.

SHOW FOE HORSES AND PONIES. The programme for the jumping competitions, pony races, etc., which are being arranged by the Taranaki Agricultural Society for Thursday, .January Ifitli, includes thirteen events for horses and ponies. The prize money and specials will exceed r £7s. The entries will Close on January 11th. fehedules will be published within a day or two. Arrangements are being made with the Railway Department, to charge excursion fares, and to delay the train in the evening. A high jumping competition, tilting at the ring, and three-part race (for horses) have been added to the programme. These events should prove inferesting. The (.wo big jumping events will be worth C 1 fi 10s each. The public and exhibitors are showing practical sympathy with the society, the cOmmittee_ already having i received over £IOO in donations'. This will assist largely towards making (he supplementary show in January n. success. Afternoon fea will he provided. As this gathering is intended to compensate the societv for the ill-luck encountered at their bite show, a charge of Is '(adnlts)" and (5s (children) will be made at the gate for both members and non--1 i'i«mlierß.
