EDUCATION BOARD
The Education Board resumed on Wednesday morning, all the members being present. The resignation of Miss Laura Reed as assistant luistreßs at the Inglewood school was accepted, and the usual steps will be taken to fill tho vacancy.
Extended leave of absence was granted to Miss Berry (Central) on account of illness. Miss Pcarce (Waitara) was granted a week's leave.
The action of the Waitara and Bell Block committees in closing their schools on account of epidemics was confirmed. Messrs. Worthington and Watchorn were appointed commissioners for the Puniwhakau school.
The Education Department wrote in regard to payment of salaries for the I March quarter for schools in grade 0, that the Minister had decided that for the year IMS the word "subsequent" in clause 7 of the Staffs and Salaries Regulations might lie disregarded, and salaries for the March qnartor based on the attendance for the December quarter. Iflo7, wherever that was higher than the yearly average. Accounts amounting to C 2177 14s 7.1 were for payment.
