A CHARGE OF MANSLAUGHTER

Per Press Association. Palinerston North, Friday. At the coroner's inquiry into the death of Lucy Goldfinch, evidence was given by Alice Stubbs, a schoolmate of deceased, to show that she and deceased were induced by a mail, identified as Emmanuel White, to have a ride on bis horse. The pace was at first slow, but soon became faster. They slipped off, Deceased struck the ground first, and witness fell on deceased. Another witness stated that the children fell oil' when the horse began to buck. Kdwin Uireke said White advised the girls not to go too fast. Although fairly chine, White did nothing to assist the children after the accident. White stated that the pony was quiet. The pace was not more than a canter. The girls lost their balance and fell backwards. The jury found that deceased died from injuries received from falling off White's horse, and that White contributed to the accident by placing deceased on the horse and neglecting to take proper precautions for her safety.
