ARBITRATION COURT.
Per Press Association. Ureymouth, Last Night. The Arbitration Court commenced a sitting this morning. The dispute between the tlrey Valley Miners' Union and the Tyneside Colliery Company was amicably .settled out of Court, lu the compensation cases, Charles Codyre claimed £205 for injuries received, from the Union Company. The defence was that Codyre received half wages for sonic months and then resumed work, signing a clear discharge. Codyre swore Mat lie tried to work for a fortnight, when the doctor advised him to stop, as his leg went back on him. He did not know he was signing a discharge, but thought it was a receipt for an instalment due. After a good deal of evidence, the Court reserved decision, liobcrt Fraser v. (J. Schaef was a claim for £l5O for an accident at Schaefs factory whereby lie lost three fingers. Schaef, however, took the lad back at the same wage as formerly. The Court made declaration of liability, and ordered the payment of £4 15s compensation and costs. In the case of E. Whitesmith v. the King, a claim of £4OO for the death of a son killed at the' State coalmine, the Court awarded £IOO damages, £l7 17s costs, and £lO funeral expenses. In Osborne v. Ilugg, a claim ol £4OO lor the death of a son through a trap accident, a settlement was arranged for £OS and costs. The Court w ill sit again at 10 o'clock to-morrow.
