Brigadier Albiston, olliecr in cliargc of the .North Island district of the Salvation Army, and Brigadier Bray, in charge of tlie social work for Australasia, interviewed Mr. F. Waldegrave, Under-Secretary for Justice, this morning with reference to proclaiming Bell'ii ls»aud, Auckland, an inebriates' home. It is understood that the gazetting of the home Will take place in a few days, and that the institution will probably oe formally opened by the end of January. If the borne, which is to accommodate fifty persons, proves successful, similar institutions will be established in Wellington, Christchurch, and Duncuin, as fast as the Army can obtain properties. Stall - Captain and Mrs. Simpson, now in charge of the Prison Gate Home and court work in Auckland, will have charge of the institution. They are to bo assisted by Captain Wadsworth, who has been associated with the Auckland prison work. The services of Mr. Goldie, son-in-law of Mr. Bell, proprietor of the island, will be retained by the Army for twelve months. Mr. Goldie understands the working of the electric lighting plant and other appointments at the island.
