Per Press Association. Wellington, Tuesday. At the Supreme Court to-day Jauieß AlacAUiaou, convicted of assault, was sentenced to nine months' imprisonment. At the conclusion of the case for the Crown, His Honor pointed out that there was very little, if anything, to connect Chumside and Wilson with the offence, and, the jury agreeing with this view, these accused were discharged. In Nicholson's case an alibi was set up, but the jury found him guilty on the first count. Sentence was deferred. Frederick Thomas Dart pleaded guilty to obtaining two suits of clothes by false pretences, and was admitted to probation for twelve months on condition that he paid the cost of the two suits and the costs of the legal proceedings, £lO in all, and also abstained from intoxicating liquors during the term of his probation, Edward Ernest Massey was charged with setting Are to a sofa and chair in a at Kaikoi'ai. knowing the building was likely to take fire, his intention being to defraud.
