MAORI CHIEFS AND THE LAND BILL.

Per Press Association. Wellington, Tuesday. Yesterday afternoon the Native Minister received a deputation of Maori chiefs which made representations regarding the Maori Land Bill. Hon. J. Carroll expressed the opinion that the Bill was directed to secure the "best Interests of the natives. At a meeting of chiefs held to-day, it was decided to vigorously oppose any attempt pass the Bill into law before the Maori race had had time to fully consider it.
