PARLIAMENT.

WEDNESDAY, OCTOBER 30. LEGISLATIVE COUNCIL. Per Press Association. Wellington, Lust Xiglit. In the Council, which met at 2.30, the Land and Income Tax Bill (annual measure) was put throng all stages. The Public Bodies Act Amendment JSill and Town Districts Act Amendment Hill were read a first time.

The following local bills were put through their iinal stages: —l'etone Water Supply Conservation, Taranaki-'B" tanic Garden, Wanganui Harbor, Levin Borough Vesting and Empowering, AVlmnganioniona County, Thames Ilarbor Hoard, Tapanui Hospital Reserve Vesting, Otago Harbor Board Empowering. The Waitara Harbor Bill was put forward for committal.

The Hon. Samuel delivered a long speech on the motion to go into committee, and was still speaking when ti>e Council adjourned at 5 until 8 p.m. On resuming at 8 p.m., the Council continued the debate on the Waitara Harbor Bill until 11.15, when the Bill was committed and the Council lose. HOUSE OF REPRESENTAIVES In the House, the « NATIVE .LAND BILL was introduced by Governor's Message, read a first time, and referred to the Native Lands Committee.

The Fire Brigades Bil, from the Council, was read a first time. The Premier, replying to Mr Massey, stated that the Public Works estimates would not be brought down until about fourteen days hence. The House adjourned at 5.30.

The House resumed at 7.30. The amendments made to the Pure Food Bill by the Council were agreed to. The Loans to Local Bodies Act Amendment Bill, Government Advances to Settlers Act Amendment Bill, and Post Office Funds Investment Bill were introduced by Governor's message and read a first time.

The Premier moved the tliird reading of the National Endowment Bill, and the debate proceeded.
