PALMERSTON SHOW.

Tor Presa Association. Palmcrston North, Wednesday. Although the Manawatu A. and I'. Show does not open till to-morrow, the judging proceeded to-day in the art and technical schools sections. The judges expressed themselves agreeably surprised with the general excellence of the displays, the art section particularly. One judge remarked that he. thought the exhibits better than those at the Christchurch Exliibition. The photographic display was also excellent. i'iie principal awards on to-day's judging are as follows (lirst prize only in each case): — Photograph, marine, 11. Plimmer; portrait study, E. S. Pegler; figure study, A. B. Hepworth; animal life study, A. W. Bathgate.

. The exhibits ill the technical school display were excellent. The prizes were distributed among Palmerston Norih and Wellington Technical Schools, Wellington Girls' College, Dannevirke High School, Woodville High School, aud Christehurch School of Art.

In the public schools display the excellent exhibit was contributed to by numerous schools of the surrounding district, nearly every school carrying off its share of prizes.
