The Wairarapa Age states, 011 good authority, that a case of "ragging" occurred in Masterton last year, in which a new hand on the railway wa3 subjected to ill-treatment by being held down by means of a board placed on his chest, on which several other cleaners sat while he was shaved in a not too gentle manner by a fellow-workman. His face was .smeared with grease and oil, and then, because he happened to wear a coat which did not conform to the tastes of the other cleaners, they set fire to it while it was on the wearer's back.
