PETROLEUM NEWS.
. «- OPERATIONS OF ENULISH CAPITAL, Mr Hadley, representing English and foreign capital, is at present in town. It will be remembered that Mr Hadley some months ago secured boring rights over about six square miles of country extending from tue Mangorei road to ; tho Hurford road, crossing the Carrington and Franklcy roads. After some delays, consequent upon dislocation of Irailic iu S'an Francisco, the plant has arrived here, and the drillers are also in town. Fart of the plant and niateterial for the derrick have been carted to the site of the first bore on Mr Schodroski's farm, but the heavy rains prevent anything further being done at present, the ground being too soft to bear the heavy loads. The intention is to sink four bores. The first, as already stated, will on Mr Schodroski's farm on the Carrington road; the second on the Frankley road, on either Mr Grooby's or Mr Ncwland's property; the third on the same road, on either Mr C. R. Abbott's or B. 'Pippins'. The fourth bore will probably be driven on the Mangorei road As soon as the weather is reasonably fine the remainder of the plant will be got on to' the site of No. 1 bore, and the remaining sites will be pegged off.
There is nothing fresh to report from the Tafanaki Petroleum Co's bores, progress being satisfactory at all the bores- " : -Tr^P' At a meeting of the directors of the Taranaki Petroleum Co. held last night, it was decided to hold the annual meetI in on Ist November.
