PROFESSIONAL CHAMPION SHIP MEETING. TO BE HELD AT NEW PLYMOUTH. A meeting of the directors of theNew Plymouth Caledonian Society was held last evening to consider the otter of the New Zealand Athletic Union to hold the second annual championship meeting at New Plymouth. It was decided to accept the otter, and that the sports meeting and annual conference of interprovincial delegates he held on Wednesday, 2Cth February (Band contest week), in the Recreation Sports Ground. ; The secretary was instructed to communicate with the secretary of the Athletic Union at Dunedin regarding tho number of delegates likely to attend tho meeting, with a view to arranging accommodation.
It was stated that the Waitara sports would probably be hsld the week before the Band contest, and that probably Stratford and Eltham might be induced to hold their annual gatherings about the same time, in order that larger outside entries may be secured. It was decided to hold the annual meeting of the Society on sth November, and to close the Society's year on 31st inst.
Mr J. Clarke was appointed as the Society's delegate at the provincial conference of the Athletic Association at Stratford on the 23rd inst. The executive decided to meet on Friday, 18th inst., to draw up a draft programme for recommendation to the incoming directors.
