A DUNEDIN AIRSHIP.
AN INVENTOR'S CLAIMS. Per Press Association. Dunedin, Last Night. ™ ar swar, merchant tailor, of tliis city, has invented an airship the prinn'iw °T, kis <Sy new. Ihe inventor says the lifting of the machine is by means of four balloons joined to a central mast, makihff them all as one compact body, and that onoe the ship rises to a sufficient height two wings or gliders, attached to an apparatus, will act in the same capacity as a parachute, which is to say, there will be sufficient air-pressure beneath them to act almost independent of artificial lifting-powers, and should any accident occur, there would be no fear of the apparatus coming to grief. The gliders are joined by universal joining, and rest upon air chambers, and thus become self-acting. Under any current lof air or adverse winds their action would resemble that of a bird on the wing, a rear shaft is adjusted on a "™ l ar P, nn «Pk, and should a gust of th?»? front of the apparatus, l " I ® l " 11 ' to the rear shaft would counteracting influence and steady the machine. The driving-power is by means of four propellors, two on each side, acting independent of each other, and driven by two small motor engines, one at each end of the machine. On turning, eitner or both can be used, and this in itself will act as steering, gear. The invention will be placed before the New Zealand Government, and if deemed worthy of consideration will he placed before the Imperial Govern--1 ment.
