OBITUARY

Per Press Association. Auckland, Last Xighl. Mrs. Elizabeth Somervell, widow of the late Mr. Henry Somervell, died at an early hour this morning, aged Ss Ci. Deceased was one of the hardy of pioneers who arrived in Auckland in the Jane (jifford as far back as 1842. She was a very liberal supporter of the cause of Fresbyterianisin, and •onje years ago founded the Somervell bursaries for the assistance of students in the Presbyterian ministry, and the Somervell Memorial Church at Remuera fa the result of her generosity. Some yean ago »he presented £IOOO to what iras known as the late Mrs. Cowies Home, which has since been merged into St. Mary's Homes, Otahuhu. Decease/1 1» nrvived by her three daughters, Mrs. A. R. Hay, of Southland Mrs. W. Curpu, and Mrs. Ireland, of Parnell.
