ACCIDENTS AND FATALITIES.
Per Press Association. Auckland, Friday. Koton, an eiderly man, who resided with Mr. and Mr*. Du in Pousonby, met his de.iu last night nnaer shocking circumstances. Xoton who was about 65 years of age. had suffered from dropsy. Last night he was ■"lilted by several relatives. Aliout 2 oclock this morning Mrs. Douglas heard s noise. She went to Xoton's room and found it full of smoke. Xnton was prone on the hearth with his head in the flra. fledfcal aid was promptly ol>. tamed, but death hid supervened. Xoton was evidently seized with sudden faintBess when sitting Ik-fore the fire. SUPPOSED SUICIDE. Per Press Association. Gore, Friday. John Gout, about 43 years of age, a single man, was found dead, having apparently shot himself, in a paddock last evening. He had not been seen since September 30th. His face was badiv wounded. Deceased was one of the five men who were sent to South Africa with the fourth contingent at the expense Of the Hon. R. MeXab.
