WAITARA WEST ROAD BOARD.
At the monthly meeting of the above Board there were present: Air S. Turnbull (chairman), Messrs Smith, Yule, and Western. Surfaceman T. Paul reported he had been engaged during the past month in cleaning watertables and raking in metal oil Te Arei, Corbett, Richmond, and Uortlcy roads; lie had also put in planks in bridges over the Afangawera on Manutahi East and Richmond roads. He reported the bridge on Richmond road lo be in a dangerous condition. Surfaceman W. Palmer reported having raked in metal on Waitara, Te Arei, and Cross roads, and made a side track on the Te Arei road. A pipe culvert wis required at junction of Te Arei and Waitara roads, and the drain on Afatarikonko road required deepening. It was decided to get Air G. Hall to furnish a report on the district bridges, with estimate of required repairs or renewals.
A general rate of one half-penny was struck for the ensuing year, and special rates ranging from 3-10 d to %i for payment of interest on loans _ The clerk was directed to arrange re insurance of Board's employees. Tlie surfacemen were directed to repair the Te Arei road at Sentry Hill and to get out metal for repairs in spare' time. The Treasury notified payment of subsidy last year's rates amounting to Accounts were passed for payment and the Board rose.
