OBITUARY.

'i'lio . mews 0& the death of LWrs' Thomas Carter, which at 11 o'clock last night, at the" residence of her son, Mr C. Carter, at Vogeltown, will come with regret to a large number of friends in New Plymouth and Opunake. The late Mrs. Carter had been tiling for some four or five months, and passed away peacefully last night at xbout 11 o'clock. She was 110rn in Lincolnshire, England, and came with her husband to New Zealand about 22 years ugo. Shortly after their arrival here they went to Opunake, where they lived for some years. After the death of Mr. Carter she came to New Plymouth, and later 011 took over Sarnia House. She was never prominent in public functions, but was a consistent member of the Methodist Church for many years. The deceased lady was much beloved by a very large circle of friends. The sad drowning of her son, Mr. Tom Carter, a few years ago leit a mark 011 her that' affected her health from that date. She leaves a grown-up family of ten, as follows:—Messrs. C. Carter, of New Plymouth; Messrs. John and George Carter, of Eltliam; Mr. Fred Carter, , Opunake; Mr. Arthur Carter, Stratford; Mrs. Baldwin, Derby, England; Mrs. James Rogers, Cardiff; Mrs. A. Harvey, Wellington; Mrs. F. Foster, New Plymouth; and Miss F. Carter, New Plymouth.
