OPUNAKE HORTICULTURAL SHOW
Our Opunake correspondent writes:— The spring show, under the auspices of the Opunake Horticultural Show, took place on Wednesday afternoon and evening, and proved very successful. There were good attendances both afternoon and evening. The exhibits of Uowcrs, though good, were not as numerous as usual owing to the fact that the spring so far has been very rough, and also on account of a show being held at Kapouga on Thursday and Friday, which prevented many outside exhibitors from competing. A show of bulbs by the Hollybrook Nursery, Inaha, attracted great attention. In the poultry section tnere was an increase of exhibits, and tho judge (Mr A. C. Johnson) said he was agreeably surprised with the quality of the exhibits, particularly the black Orpingtons and white Leghorns, which were lit to show anywhere. The committee, as usual, worked very hard and the arrangements were perfect. The capable secretary, Mr J. Pettigrew, who was ably assisted by Mr G. P. Armstrong, was as usual moßt assiduous in attending to Ms duties.
