, Per Press Association. 1 Duncdin, Saturday Night. Au inquest was held to-day eoncern- , ing the death of George Shrimpton, who i who was killed at Waipori electrical . works. The evidence was practically to - the effect that deceased had, while lie was supposed to be otherwise occupied, f started with another employee named j. Clothier to carry pipes into the switch--2 room, which was regarded as the most I dangerous apartment in the buildings—--1 as a medical man put it, a death-trap. Deceased had not been instructed to go a into the place at all; on the contrary, e he had been warned against doing so, e but, being a most diligent man, who t could not remain idle, he had abandoned !- the work allotted him, as he considered 8 it inadvisable to do it, and had started with his companion to carry pipes t'o i- the switchboard-room. He placed the i- pipe carried by himself on the floor of n the room, and on turning to Clothier y to assist him to lower his pipe, his head s came in contact with one of the n switches, the contact killing him ina stantly. s The jury, after brief deliberation, iei. turned a verdict that deceased was aceig dentally killed by coming in contact with f a live wire, that no blame was attaehf able to anyone, and recommended that g the doors of the main building in future y be kept locked, the keys to be kept ill I- possession of someone in authority, s Au inquest was held this afternoon e on the body of Minnie Landsberry, 26 e years of age, who died in the hospital on the 12th instant. The evidence s showed that deceased came from Sydil ney in October last, and was subsequentd ly appointed a nurse at Seacliff Mental j. Hospital. Leaving her employment on h the 2nd instant owing to illness, ded ceased was.admitted to the hospital on :h Monday last, being then very ill. The >. jury returned a verdict to the effect that r death was due to blood-poisoning, the a- result of a miscarriage self-induced by > deceased.
