GOLF CHAMPIONSHIP.

Per Press Association. Napier, Last Night. The. New Zealand Golf Club's championship meeting was continued to-day. A slight rain fell in the afternoon, and this developed into fairly heavy showers by 5 p.m. Play was almost over by that time, however. The amateur medal handicap, 18 holes, was won by L. C. Seifert, with a net score of 80; Wikaranema was second with 81'; A. S. Wilder third with 85; and Arthur Duncan, the amateur champion, fourth with a net score of 80, but he did uie round 78, a very hue performance. B. B. Wood, H. C. Smith, J. F. Ritchie, Kurupo Tareha, and G. F. Thorburn .put on the next best gross scores to Duncan's. The O'Rorke Vase for teams was won by the Wellington team, with a link score of 3.">3, Dunedin 360, Timaru 308, Napier 309, Christchurch No. 1 378, Christehurch No. 2 390, and Auckland 390 following in that order. The second round of the Amateur Championship of New Zealand was played, the winners of the round being .1. (i. Rutherford, 11. D. Bamford, G. L. Thorburn, J. O. Kettle, M. E. Turrell, T. Lynch, A. W. Gillies, H. C. Cock, E. A. Dargaville, Major Gordon, D. B. Lusk, B. B. Wai'd, W. Handyside, J. Carne Bidwill, C. Armstrong, W. B. Colbeck, H. T. Gillies, A. 11. Fisher, K. D. Duncan, C Bennett, 11. E. Wright, E. Knight. A. 1). Duncan, 11. 11. Watson, \V. K. 1! id. 11. D. Bates. W. T. Harinan, J. T. Ritchie. G. J. Kirby, C. A. Turnbull. 11. ('. Smith, TT. E. Traitbeck. The open championship and Hawltes Bay amateur championship will be continued to-morrow. From present appearances, A. Duncan, who is playing very consistently and is in splendid form, looks certain to win the amateur championship, if not the whole three championships.
