The adjourned inquest was held afternoon concerning the death of the illegitimate child of Elizabeth Hogg, who was born on August 4, and who died through suffocation shortly afterwards. A verdict was returned that death was caused lbythe neglect of the mother and putative father, David Braid, who was the only person present at the birth. At the inquest, the latter said* he admitted that the evidence ho had previously given, that he had never* lr.d improper relations with the girl, was false, and he was accordingly charged with perjury and remanded.
