LABOR LEGISLATION.
EMPLOYERS' PROTEST. Per Press .Association. Auckland, August 20. c A special meeting of the Executive of J the Auckland Employers' Association 1 was held to-day to consider clause 19 i A inserted in the Coal Mines Act Amend- i ment Bill whilst in Committee of the : House. Grave exception was taken to i the clause alluded to, which reads: "The owner of a coal mine shall, on demand, supply to the secretary of a union of workers, a copy of any paysheet showing the payments to those employees subject to an award of the Arbitration Court." After discussion, a resolution was adopted protesting against the clause, which it was considered involved the very objectionable principle of employers being compelled to furnish cm- - ployees with particulars from their ■ books, and was unnecessary and uncall--1 ed for, as ample provision already ex- , ist.ed for any such information being ■ obtainea.
