INFANT LIFE PROTECTION.
Per Press Association. Wellington, August 21. A deputation consisting of Drs. Truby King and Collins and three ladies waited upon Dr Findlay regarding infant life -potectiou work. It was suggested thatr-thejjeriod in which registration is bound to take "Jlace should be shortened to, say, three days in towns, and within a week in the country. The deputation also represented that the police were not the proper authorities to exercise surveillance over infant homes and that provision be made for a responsible officer cancelling the registration of homes conducted In an undesirable manner. • "° r reply, said he was convinced that something would have to be done to protect fiifant b'fe more fully than was the case at present, and the aw would have to be altered to provide that a qualified nurse should inspect homes. He also intimated that the law would be amended in other directions
