BURGLARS AT WORK.

ATTEMPT TO ROB A GOLD MLN'JB. -' SAFE. ' a ,-~-fcr, Ssm. Thames, August 10. An attempt was made to rob the bullion safe at the May Queen battery. The doors of the battery and safe room had been opened, and an attempt made to dynamite the safe. A charge of gelignite was placed in the hole with the object of dislodging the safe lock, but the charge was 100 heavy, the result being that the safe jammed. Tho police are - investigating.
