TRANSVAAL LOYALTY.
PROPOSED PRESENTATION TO THE KING. THE "CULLINAN" DIAMOND. Received 18th, 4.42 p.m. Pretoria, August IT. General Botha has given notice of motion in the Assembly in favor of the Colony acquiring tlie "Cullman" diamond for presentation to King Edward, as a token of loyalty, and-to commemorate the granting of responsible Government. The diamond belongs to the Premier Diamond Mining Company, and is estimated to be probably worth a million sterling. Under the mining laws the Transvaal Government is already the owner of onesixteenth of the diamond, its' share being fixed at £05,00. Tho Progressive members of the House resolved to oppose the purchase, on the ground that the time is inopportune, owing to financial difficulties and the depression on the Rand.
