CYCLE ROAD RACE.

BATHURST TO SIDNEY. A TACK-STREWN COURSE. Received 17th, 8.04 p.m. Sydney, August 17. The annual road race from Bathurst to Sydney took place in fine weather. The roads were in excellent condition, but much indignation was expressed t.t some miscreant thickly strewing tacks on the road between Bathurst and Bowonfels, causing about 40 competitors to puncture, and iu some instances over one hundred tacks were removed from the tyres. Large crowds lined the route at various interesting stages. Larcombc, last year's winner of this race, was among the contestants, but had the misfortune to break a crank before covering half the distance.

The placed division got together, and fought out a great finish, F. Aplin crossing the. line a couple of lengths in front of A. Aplin, who was a similar distance ahead of Walcott.

The timo (riding) occupied by the winner was 7 hours 59min, A. Aplin 7 hours 59iuius and 2-ssecs, and Walcott 8 hours 9mins 36secs.

G. Horder, from scratch, finished fourth, and made the shortest time, viz., 7 hours 35mins 45secs.
