' Wellington, August 17. ; Before ilr Justice Cooler three men, Jolm Byron, Hamilton Ueorge Ferris anil William Jlobert Sinclair, convicted for burglariously entering the premises oi Laery and Co. and by means ol' dynamite breaking opeu a safe, were sent forward for sentence. Ferris and Sinclair lull also pleaded guilty to two other charges of burglary, and Hamilton had been found guilty of receiving articles which he knew to have been stolen. His Honor, in passing sentence, said there was no doubt in his mind that prisoners were very dangerous men, and the community would be much safer for their conviction. For the offence of breaking and entering Laery and Co/a premises and committing robbery accused would each be stenced to ten years; Ferris and Sinclair would be sentenced to five years on each charge to which they pleaded guilty. Hamilton would also receive sentences on other charges. In effect the punishment iB 15 5 years for each prisoner. Before Mr Justice Cooper, Henry Peacock, found guilty of incest, was sen- ' teneed to ten years. His Honor said • accused was unfit to be at large in any I civilised community.
