The Department of Industries and Commerce lias received the following cable irom the High Commissioner at Jjondon, dated August 3:— Mutton.- The market is slightly weaker. The supply meets the demand. Canterbury mutton 414 d, North Island 3%d. Lamb is in active demand at fuli prices. Canterbury brandß 5%d; other than Canterbury oViil. Beef: The market is steady, with very good demand for hindquarters. The supplies of American chilled beef are ilkeiy to increase hindquarters 3%d,fore 2 ; / B d. Butter: The butter market is firm for best quality only, of which the supply falls short. There is only a weak market for seeond-class quality. Choicest New Zealand 101s, Danish 113s Siberian 05s, Irish 104s. There are 110' Uinadian supplies in sight. The cheese market is quiet, with a tendency m favor of buyers. New Zeacheese 60s, colored (scarce) bis. Canadian (white) 555, colored 565. Hemp: The market is steady and fair business is doing. Good fair Wellingfair « rade spot lnl tT a" 1 '?
