PROTEST FROM COAL MINE OWNERS. Per Press Association. Dunedin, July 20. A representative meeting of coal mine owners decided emphatically to protest against any increase of duty in connection with mining machinery, especially boilers and locomotives, as the industry has already as much as it can carry. [MINISTERIAL REPLY TO A PROTEST Dunedin, July 21. In reply to a telegram sent by electrical firms in this city, protesting against the proposed tariff on electrical machinery and appliances, the Hon.. J. A. Millar says, "Electrical machinery is simply being put on the same basis as steam machinery, with which if enters into competition, and revenue is required."
