OPIUM SMOKING.
C| r Per Press Association. Palmerston N., July 8. The police raided Chinese premises in town on Saturday night in a search for opium smokers, but only one Celeetial was caught. His outfit, including an 1 opium pipe and the usual paraphernalia, was seized and the delinquent will appear before the court in the ordinary course. Greymouth, July 8. A Chinaman was fined £lO and costs . for having in his possession 21bs of opium.
