SUICIDE IN A CELL.
Per Press Association. Duncdin, July fi. Gabriel McCambridge strangled himself in a police cell last night. He was arrested yesterday for being drunk and disorderly, and on account of his violent behaviour and peculiar appearance was confined in a padded cell. McCambridge was visited in the course of the usual routine at !) and 0.30 0 clock, and at that time appeared well, but 011 opening the cell at 10.10 the sergeant and watchhouse-kceper found the man lying face downwards on the floor. All examination proved that he had lorn a strip off a blanket, and making a running noose 011 the end and placing the loop around his neck, had pulled the 1 other end until he was strangled. Deceased was 2!) years of age, and is believed to be married and have a family. Light ecu months ago he was licensee of a notel at Xasebv, and subsequently tenanted the Brighton Hotel. Latterly lie had been employed as a porter at the Duncdin Hospital.
