ACCIDENTS AND FATALTIES.

Per Press Association. wn- , Wellington, July (I. William Clarke, a larnier residing at upper Ilutt, met with an accident ou Saturday night, which terminated fatally. After alighting from a train at upper Ilutt, lie went to cross the line while shunting was ill progress, and by some means he was struck by a truck. ' Wy ia ß crushed. Clarke died in the Wellington Hospital at 2.80 this morning. Crosse ran into a by-train entering the station. Crosse endeavored to negotiate a crossing before the train approached. The ear stopped on the line and the forepart was struck by the engine and the car upset. Crosse had a shoulder blade broken, and Jliss Smitzer was seriously injured about the. head and body. Mrs Crosse and her daughter . escaped unhnrt Ihe engine threw the ear clear of the tram. The ear was badlv daniiged.
