FUNDS FOR NEW SCHOOL BUILD INGS.
Per Press Association. Wellington, July C. Replying to a deputation to-day from the Wellington Education Board, which asked for assistance in providing sites for new schools, the Hon. G. Fowlds said he had only a limited sum to meet similar demands from all parts of the colony, and he was sure the colony would not agree to a larger borrowing policy. It was very unfortunate that localities were not required to find some portion of the cost of new schools. If he had an unlimited supply of money he could afford to be very generous, but as he was badgered by everyone to make provision for needs, lie found ft difficult to find the money. A member of the deputation suggested that the House would vote the money if asked to do so.' The Minister replied that the House would howl against the Government for borrowing too much money. "We have to arrange to keep within the million every year," he added.
