I LONDON WOOL SALES. Received 17th, 10.12 p.m. London, May 17. The following were the average prices realised at the" wool sales for the lleece portions of the clips named "Richmond" l)%d, Kawara.il 10'/ s d, Popurangi ll%d. The quantity sold to Home buyers was !11,000, the 'Continent 51,000, United States 4000, held over 15,000. Merinos met with a strong demand throughout, all medium to best closing a per cent above .March rates. Short fauties barely maintained March rates. Crossbreds fuily recovered the opening de. dine and ail classes arc now fully equal to March rates. Good Merino lambs' advanced from par to 5 per cent, wiiile fmlty declined 5 per cent. Crossbreils' declined a half-penny. ' NEWTON KING'S REPORT.
At the Uaymnrket on Saturday pigs sold at rather low prices. Slips, Is b'd to 7s; small stores, 7s lid to lis; hacks, 27s (id to 52s Od. At the mart, fowls were penned in fair numbers, hut nearly all were poor oiulity. Ileus made !)d to Is 7d; cockerel-, llid lo Is sd; ducks, Is lid to Is lOd. The sale of groceries in assigned estate of Messrs. Foot and Son attracted an eager crowd of buyers, and excellent prices were realised.
Cattle: At Waiwakaiho on Tuesday, owing to the election, there was a small entry of stock and limited attendance. Weavers made 13s. yearling steers 275, 12 to 15 mouths' heifers 30s, 2 year old, in calf, 50s, store cows 45s to 50s, forward do. £3 to £3 155.. At Rahotu on Thursday there was a .good vardiug, and large attendance. Nearly evervthinjyvas well competed for and sold at improved prices. Weauers made lis (id to 17s Od, 18 months heifers 28s to 41s (id, 2 year do., ill calf, 555; springing do., £3 14s (id; 18 to 20 months steers, 40s to 52s Od; 2y 3 to 3 year do., £3 13s; store cows, 23s'Gd to 425; forward do.. 55s to 08s. WEBSTER BROS.' REPORT. Fruit: This commodity is still very scarce. We quote: Cooking apples, 3s to 5s Od; Five Crowns, 5s to 7s. Poultry: We had a much larger entry on Saturday and prices showed a slight advance as under: Cockerels, Is Od to •2s; chicks, lOd; old hens, Is to Is 3d; pullets, Is Od to 2s 2d; ducks, Is Od to j Is Kid.
Omata—We held our first sale under the new dates on Friday, when we had a very satisfactory yarding. Prices, too, for good stuff are on the improve. We quote: Calves, mixed, 17s; empty cows, €1 to £1 15s ■, store cows, .£2 8s to £2 15s (good); springers, £2 4s to £2 12s Od; empty heifers, £1 0s to £1 15s; cows in milk (poor), £1 14s to £2; bull, £2 4s. Next sale, Friday, 14th Juno. VICKERS AND STEVENS' REPORT. Vickcrs and Stevens' report that there was a good yarding of cattle in their Inglewood yards on Wednesday. Bidding was dull, and prices much lower than last sale. Calves made from 10s fid to £1; calf heifers, £1 7s to £1 12s Od; store cows, £1 5s to £2 15s; cows, £4 to £4 ss; springers, £3 5s to £3 15s.
