'The Local Industrial Association, after some eighteen months' deliberation and discussion, lias sent in a report to the (Jovernment which embodies the decisions arrived at. The report includes recommendations received from other associations, (,'enerally speaking, it is in favor of taking oil' or reducing the la rill' on some articles of food—sugar, for instance, by :ts per cwt. To protect the engineering industry a tnvill' of ;13 1-3 per cent is suggested on machinery which en: now be made with advantage in the colony,through patents having expired.
