THE EXHIBITION.
Per Picas Association. C'liristchurch, April 18. Almost astonishing progress is being made with the clearing away of many of the exhibits, and the whole building i» a scene of the greatest activity. A large portion of the Art Gallery has been denuded of its pictures, three of the rooms having been emptied by this morning, and the paintings and sculptures are being packed into the big zinclined cases thai formed their homes six months ago. It is stated that one of the prominent officials connected with a big (iovernnient court lwil his diploma of award, which was presented to hint during the closing ceremony, taken almost immediately. He and some others left their diplomas 011 their seats for a while, and when lliey relumed, after conducting some business, the document was gone. Dunedin, April IS. The lion. Mr. Uall-.Joncs received a telegram from the Governor to-night, stating that the following reply had been received to a message despatched on Monday, with reference to the close of the Exhibition, from His Majesty the King: "ilis Majesty the King has heard with much pleasure of the success of the Exhibition."
