ACCIDENTS AND FATALITIES.
Per Press Association. Oamani, April 18. A lad named Oliver Ward, aged Ki years, a telegraph messenger, died suddenly while playing football this afternoon. He had boon playing a hard game, | but, feeling unwell, walked ofV, telling 1 the touch lino umpire that ho iuwl had i enough of it. Shortly afterwards he be- ! gan to stagger and vomited, and almost , immediately expired. It was thought that he had boon kicked during the ; game, but no bruise could be found on the body. ; Nelson, April 18. A youlig man named William Gould was killed by a falling tree while bushfelling near Murchisou. lie sustained f. severe; fracture of the skull, and lingered for some fourteen hours, mostly unconscious. He wan a single man, about twenty years ol' ago, and a native of Pelorus, where his family reside. Duned in, April 18. An old man named John Hums wa* knocked over and killed by a shunting waggon in the railway yard' at Balelutha at 5.20 p.m. to-day. As far as could be ascertained be had no relatives in tiie district.
