LORD NORTECOTE'S ESCAPE.

SERIOUS ACCIDENT AVERTED. Received 11, 11.53 p.m. Sydney, March 11. The Governor-General had a narrow escape from a serious accident. While his carriage was descending Big Jack mountain, near Bombala, tile horses became restive' and started to bolt down the hill. The driver was thrown from iiis scat, but retained his hold of the reins until mounted troopers were able to get iioid of the horses and stop their lliglit.
