THREATENING A REFEREE.
THE CHARGE WITHDRAWN, Per .Press Association. Wellington, January 28. I lie charge against James Ryan of behaving in a liirenleiung manner towards a referee in a fool ball match in ■July last was withdrawn. The police uul several witnesses, but owing to the lapse of time, many wero unable to identify accused. For the dofence it wns alleged that Ryan was not the man Dr, Ik-Arthur, S,M., observed tUat it it was proved to him that any men did create these disturbances, he would deal severely with them.
