Per Press Association. Weuingtox, January 28. * uc Government has appointed Mr C. P: Skerrett to represent the natiye interests before the Native Lands Commission.

It is understood that Mr A LFraser, M U.K., will assist Mr Skerrett! The Commission will he formally opened at Chnstchurch on Thursday when the Chief Justice (President) will give a general outline of the course he proposes to take, and tho AttornoyGeneral (for the Goyernment), and Mr Skerrett will be asked to make any statements they desire on behalf of the respective interests.
