Auckland, December 4, Sir John Gorst spent a busy day ir( Te Awamutu and its vicinity to-day v a the morning he visited the'mission houses, and his former residence, and then drove to Rangiohia, Kihikihi. and Orukau. In the afternoon he received an address from the Maoris, and afterwards addresed them. The Maors made pathetic references to the old days when their members were larger and there were men of tty and distinction among them. The Hon. G. Fowlds referred to ths efforts of the Government to educate the Maoris, and the proposals for tech,' nical education. Sir John Gorst, in a most interests ng referred to his experiences in -.-lie ear,y days, and the cliangeg that had most impressed him, the principal of which was the friendship which now existed between the two : races.
