STRANDED ON KANGAROO ISLAND. CREW, NUMBERING 40, SAFE. ASSISTANCE DESPATCHED. Received 20th, 10.3 p.m. Adelaide, November 20. A lad arrived at Kingscotc to-dav and reported the wreck of tne French barque Monte Belle, which left Hobarc on the 7th in ballast for Port Pirie. He had met some of the crew, which numbers 40 all told, and they informed him that the barque went 1 ashore early on Sunday morning near Cape Diconedie , at the soutli-wc>t exticmity of Kangaroo I-land. The weather was exceedingly rough at the time- They were trying to make Cape Borda, but missed the light, and were unaware tney were near land til the vfs-el struck. All hands got safely ashore, though one seaman was rather ser-iou-ly injured. They are now camped in the shelter of a hut near the scene of the wreck. Provisions have been sent, and the Government steamer despatched with assistance. Owing to the crew being all there is difficulty in chaining details. A TOTAL WRECK. Received 2i>t, 1.13 a.m. Adelaide, November 20A report has been received by the Marine Board that thq Monte Belle is a total wreck.
