(From Our Own Correspondent.)

The bi-ennial election of members for the Opunake Town Board which | takes place on Wednesday next, 26th I inst;, is causing a good deal of interest.. Five\ members aie required and eight candidates have offered themselves, viz, Messrs YV. C. Dudley, E. O'Meara, C. A. Trotter, J'. C. Go'dieJ. M. Hickey, D. Ross. A. Clough and G. T. Yardley. The three former are members of the present Town Board. It has been suggested that each candidate should lay his views before the ratepayers at a meeting to be held on Tuesday night. Mr F. Read, of Watino Road, Pihama, has just had a LawrenceKennedy milking machine installed, and so far it is giving great satisfaction. Next season should see a large number of machines installed in this district. Mr Percy Hickman met with a painful accident on Saturday,.morning at Mr Yardley's butchery establishment. He was working near the sausage machine, which was in op eration at the time, when ho tripped and his right hand came in contact with the knives, with the result that two of his fingers were very bad'y cut. Dr Morrison attended to him and inserted several stitches, but it wi 1 be some time before he is able to use the hand.
